Summer So Far...

As mid-August approaches, I figured it was time to post a much overdue update on the happenings of our Summer. In June, my parents came for a nice long visit to help us catch up on the projects building up around the house and so they could get some much needed Lori-time.
We headed down to Denver and met up with my brother, Scott, and his girlfriend, Michelle, at the zoo. This was Lori's first visit to the zoo and she had a great time!
pretty walkway in the zoo.
What a look of anticipation!
My Dad and Mom watching Lori at the park
My mom and I at the park
Leaving the fire station in Centennial. Lori loves to swing when walking between people- she'll pick up her feet even if you're not ready! :)
We got some good news in June! We're expecting our second gift in early March.
Lori is such a help with the laundry!
We headed to La Conner, Washington for Sam's family reunion. It was a long stretch to drive with our active little two year old and a pregnancy-sick, car-sick mama, but worth it! Lori had a great time hamming it up with the family, once she warmed up. We had a great traditional marshmallow fight and ate PLENTY of good food! This is a picture of Lori enjoying Grandpa's lap with Grandma! :)
Lori loves her Aunt Miriam- no warm-up time needed there. Miriam can get her laughing SO hard!
Yay! It's Daddy's birthday!
You will notice that this is one of Lori's favorite poses for the camera...
She wanted to try on Daddy's helmet- but he gave her a demo instead (it is quite heavy)
Lori and I spent a morning at the fairgrounds here in town. She was quite afriad of the cows, pigs, and sheep, but warmed up quickly to the horses. I showed her she could feed them hay, and it was difficult to pull her away!

It was time for a new window...

It was an OLD single pain (with an outside storm window) that condensed water something awful last winter- even pushing the sill away from the wall with all of the moisture.

Sam ordered us a nice new window (that opens!). Once he got the old one out and everything framed in, our friend Sean and his family came over and helped Sam to put the new one in place.
Sam fitted some nice new trim to the outside (some sort of PVC-type boards)
Ooh- the finished product! Now I just have to get all the trim painted (and house washed) before winter :)
Inside view of my handyman's work! The store ordered our window too narrow and different than they told us, so they are giving us the trim on the outside and inside free of charge. The inside will have pretty oak trim to hopefully match our floors (pictures to follow).
So cute!
Lori likes to help me gather the beans in the garden and totes a couple handfuls around until we go inside. Then she wants to wash them in the sink before she's done with them. This evening, she washed a couple in the hose, then took a few bites. She kept spitting out the bites after a couple of chews, but kept taking more bites- maybe hoping she'd like it better on the next try?
The girls ready for church this morning
Lori's double french braids (with the distraction of a large green dancing bunny on TV). She put the random pink barrette in there just as I snapped the picture.

Thanks for making it through all the pictures! Maybe the next post will be before the summer ends... ;)

Yay, thanks for the new post! I agree, it was passed due, especially with the GRAND news! Wohoo, so happy for you three!

(P.s. I did like how you snuck in 1 picture of a test, and a 1 liner about the topic before, what, 5 pictures about a window with a bunch of text? lol ;) )
