The Hunt

The Lord provided a nice buck for us this year when Sam went hunting with a couple of friends last Thursday. It was getting dark and the guys were getting close to heading home empty handed on the last day of the season.
Our friend was on the search for a buck that he might have shot, so Sam went off in another direction looking for the buck. In the fading dusk, and as he worked his way through a canyon, another buck started above him, making a quick descent down the rocky wall. He paused broadside briefly before turning to start up the wall, allowing Sam the opportunity to line up a shot. The bullet found its target and the buck fell about thirty feet before it barely caught on a small rocky ledge, still a ways up the canyon's wall, cracking the tip off of the right antler (see above picture, right hand). Our friends then proceeded to cut up the deer and haul it up the cliff side to the truck, all while in the dark and aided by headlamps. Thank you, Ben and Sean, for all of your help! :)
We finished processing the deer yesterday, and I hope to get it wrapped up and frozen tomorrow. Our next Wyoming adventure will entail creating a European head mount to display on our wall!
Lori liked the bright orange hat she found, especially when I showed her that it doubled as a mask!
On Saturday, we went to the UW homecoming game. Lori actually had a great time- she loved watching and dancing as the marching band played, as well as visiting with those seated around us.
